The Main and Clinton area was for decades the psychological epicenter of the Greater Rochester region.
In mid-2005 experts from the Urban Land Institute and the Rochester community cooperated in an effort to imagine a 're-created' Midtown site. The former Sibley's department store now houses a growing college campus environment, and interest in this pivotal area continues to be piqued by the recent razing of the former Midtown Plaza, the decision by Windstream Corp. to locate over 300 employees in the former Seneca Building (under the ownership of the Rochester-based Pike Co., and plans by the Morgan/Christa team to turn the former tower into housing.
